Introduction to Transition Communities: Quiet Riot

Thursday, July 9, 2009

6 pm; networking

6: 30 pm; program

Our economy depends on long, fragile supply chains powered by coal and oil.

Climate Change tells us we should change.

Peak Oil tells us we have to change.

Intertwined, these two issues tell us we must:

Re-localize our economy and reduce carbon emissions.

The Transition Movement acts as a catalyst to unleash local collective genius to locally produce all we can produce: food, energy, shelter, walkkable communities, healthcare...

If you are interested in the engaged optimism of the Transition Community,

If you would like to help your community to become resilient and self-reliant in a planned - even playful - energy descent, then join us, The Quiet Riot on July 9th!

The goals of the Center for Environmental Policy (CEP) at The Academy of Natural Sciences are to evaluate key issues of environmental policy, facilitate dialogues and decision-making on environmental topics, and inform the public from both an academic as well as practical perspective.  The CEP will answer the need for a non-partisan, science-based organization that is capable of accessing and guiding a myriad of public and private stakeholders.

For more information on current CEP projects and initiatives, please see www.ansp.org/environmental/index.php
